About the author : Mearieta Clemente

We are so lucky to have Amy as part of our team. In honor of her 10-year anniversary, we met up with her at one of the cafes to ask her a few questions!

When and why did you join Curt’s Café?
I first started as an Intern in the spring of 2025 while I was getting my bachelor’s in criminal justice. I joined as a full staff member in May of 2016 making it 10 years this month.  I also got my master’s in non-profit management, so the two degrees together work well with Curt’s Cafe.

What does the Curt’s mission mean to you?
Helping young adults be successful in our program to better their future and help them to continue to be successful.

Tell us about one of your favorite memories from over the years.
An A-HA moment from students is always my favorite. I love the moment when students get it, whatever “it” is, and being proud that they did. I have graduates come up to me and tell me that because I was so hard on them about being on time, communicating and being accountable for their actions they were able to keep their job and were so thankful.

What is something you want to improve on?
Expressing anger through body language. I need to get better with rolling my eyes.

What is your favorite food?
I love anything with pasta, especially spaghetti with meat sauce. My favorite pasta shape is Ditalini.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?
That really hard, I don’t know let’s go ask…

“Being awesome!”

“Joy!”

“You’re very strong.”

“Being motherly, very mother hen.”

“Making me do stuff for you! Ha ha ha, I mean getting stuff done.”

What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to retiring, spending time with my children and grandchildren, and traveling with my husband.
