Curt’s Cafe is fortunate to be located in the midst of a caring and supportive community.  Many individuals and organizations have already contributed to get Curt’s Cafe up and running and will help sustain its growth. We are truly grateful for and humbled by their support.  But more is needed if we’re to succeed and flourish!  We invite you to join us and help build our program.

VOLUNTEER

At Curt’s we’re providing something else besides delicious treats and a comfortable space: we’re also serving up good portions of hope and opportunity.  Curt’s Café provides training, in food service and life skills, for at-risk youth in Evanston.

If you’d like to help Curt’s Café flourish, we can use you!  We have needs for volunteers in a variety of areas.  If you have a little time (or a lot!) you can make a big difference here at Curt’s.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please click here to fill out our Volunteer Questionnaire.  It will just take a few minutes to complete and we’ll get in touch with you to follow up.

Volunteers are needed in many areas, and whatever your interests or expertise, we bet we can find a good use for you here at Curt’s!  Here are just some of our volunteer needs:

  • Tutors to help our students with math, English, computer literacy, GED preparation, and assistance in obtaining Sanitation Certifications.
  • Mentors to provide encouragement and guidance for our students, enjoying meals with them, sharing your stories and listening to theirs.
  • Office help of all kinds.
  • Fundraising help so we can keep our program running and expand it to include more young people at risk.
  • Experienced food professionals – chefs, bakers, baristas, wait staff – who will share their knowledge with our students.

We pride ourselves in being a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that will provide three quarters of its revenue through sales.  Our budget is modest and and our intention is to have proceeds from the Café pay for everything except the stipends for the students and a small amount of overhead for Café maintenance and growth.  We will only be successful with your help.  Please consider a financial or in-kind donation today.
